Some of you may recall a blog post I wrote last year about the awful trend of earlier and earlier shopping hours. Well, as we now know, most national retailers are opening on Thanksgiving Day this year in a desperate attempt to get shoppers before their competitors. Again, we see no end in sight to this trend.
Last year we opened all of our stores at 6 am Friday, refusing to get drawn into the early shopping obsession. And, for the most part, we are sticking with that this year. Two of our stores, in Tampa and Clearwater, will open from midnight Thursday until 2 am, and then will re-open at 6 am. And no, we are not happy about it. Unfortunately, the leases in those two Westfield centers leave us no choice.
We continue to believe with all our hearts that Thanksgiving is a family holiday and deserves to stay that way. Our stores are closed only three days a year, and we feel very strongly that our employees should be able to spend Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas with their families.
We urge you to continue to support small, locally owned businesses by not doing all of your shopping Thanksgiving night at big national retailers who return nothing to the communities they serve. Enjoy the night with your family, and if you like, get up early on Friday and come see us.
Frankly, the only reason the big stores keep opening earlier and earlier is because they believe people will keep coming to shop earlier and earlier. The best way to put an end to this madness is by refusing to participate. We will be home in front of the fire enjoying the holiday, as it is meant to be. Happy Thanksgiving.

We are so excited about the launch of the iPad Air that we just have to open our doors early on launch day, Friday, November 1! Come feel how light it really is and experience the speed of the A7 processor. Hold an iPad Air in your hands this Friday as early as 8am at your local PeachMac. See the exact store hours for each of our stores below on launch day:
Athens: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. | Macon: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Peachtree City: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. | West Cobb: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
East Cobb: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. | Norcross: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Forsyth Co.: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. | Montgomery: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Tampa: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. | Clearwater: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. (Use main mall entrance by Restaurant Row between Macy’s and Sears) | Charlottesville: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
What’s so cool about the iPad Air? The iPad Air has a completely new form factor than the previous generation iPad. It now has a much thinner bezel (similar to that of the iPad mini), and weighs only one pound. It’s almost ¾ of an inch less wide left to right than the 4th generation iPad and 0.33 pounds lighter. When you compare the thickness of the iPad Air to the 4th generation iPad, you’ll notice that it’s 0.08-inch thinner. It doesn’t sound like much, but we predict that you’ll really be able to feel the difference in your hands.
It’s also got speed. The iPad Air is equipped with the Apple A7 64-bit architecture meaning it’ll put the iPad 4th gen to shame with up to two times faster CPU and graphics performance. Does this make you worry about your battery life? Well, it shouldn’t. You’ll still get up to 10 hours on one charge.
Have you ever had a challenge connecting to WiFi with your iPad? The iPad Air will get you connected more seamlessly than ever before with two antennas instead of one and the use of MIMO technology.
Also important to note is that any new iPad will come equipped with iOS 7 and the ability to get free iWork and iLife apps. With access to the world, your life, and over 375,000 apps from the App Store, the iPad Air makes the perfect companion.
Join us Friday, November 1 for the launch of the iPad Air. Doors open at 8 a.m.
- 9.7-inch Retina display
- A7 chip with M7 motion coprocessor
- Built-in Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) with MIMO support

We are sad to announce the closing of our Augusta/Evans location on September 24, 2013. Our lease is up, and unfortunately our landlord has made it impossible for us to stay with his questionable choices for some of the other spaces here.
We have spent the past year trying to find an alternative location within a reasonable driving distance of our current store, but were not able to get Apple’s approval for any of the sites we chose.
Thus it is with heavy hearts that we decided to simply close the location. We have enjoyed serving you these past five years, and thank you very much for your loyalty and your business.
It goes without saying that PeachMac is not going away. Our 11 other locations remain open, and we will continue to add new locations in 2014. We are here if you need us and can always ship any products you might need directly to your home or business. Please email us at email@example.com for any assistance.

The launch of any new iPhone is exciting. With the arrival of the iPhone 5c and 5s, we thought it was a good time to discuss some of the most important things you’ll want to do to get off on the right foot after you get a new iPhone. Here are the 8 most essential steps to take to truly love your new iPhone.
1. Activate iCloud and Find My iPhone
We’ve all heard the name, but do you know what iCloud can do for you? iCloud and its Find My iPhone feature protects your personal data and gives you the ability to track down your iPhone if it goes missing.
iCloud can also use your WiFi connection to back up your important pictures, videos and messages while the device is charging. That’s a lot of power in one little service. Best of all, it’s FREE and setup is simple. Take a look at our brief video on setting up iCloud to get started.
2. Add AppleCare +
The AppleCare+ plan is the ultimate accessory for any iPhone. For just $99, your iPhone is protected for 2 years. That’s 730 days of protection, not just from manufacturer’s defects but physical damage as well. Should your iPhone become damaged, AppleCare+ will cover the cost of a replacement phone with just a $79 deductible up to two times during the coverage period. The peace of mind AppleCare+ provides is simply unbeatable.
3. Protect it with a case
Buying a case is about more than just protecting your investment; it’s about making your iPhone uniquely yours. Whatever your need, PeachMac offers a case to fit your style. PeachMac carries cases for the 5s, 5c, 5, 4s and 4. Stop into your local PeachMac to find the ideal case for your iPhone.
4. Download the Essential iPhone Apps
It’s hard to believe there was a time when the iPhone didn’t support 3rd party apps. Of course, there are several tried and true apps every iPhone owner wants to have like Pandora, Linkedin, and Angry Birds. But, what else is out there? Luckily for us, Apple has collected some of their most popular apps into a handy list for browsing in iTunes.
5. Upgrade Your Headphones
The EarPods that come with your iPhone are a good start to pumping your favorite tunes, but may not be ideal for runners or anyone looking for better sound. PeachMac carries a broad range of headphones for every need. For the fitness folks, we offer the Yurbuds line starting at just $29.99. Their impressive locking feature was designed by runners to ensure the headphones won’t come flying out during your daily jog.
For anyone with a desire to take a break and melt away with their music, we offer the Coloud Boom which are comfortable, over the ear headphones at $39.99. The Boom’s modern styling and competitive price point make it a perfect fit. They come in an impressive array of colors from standard to vibrant tones that fit right in with the bold design of iOS 7.
6. Invest in a Speaker
What good is having new technology if you can’t impress your friends with it? Show off iOS 7‘s new iTunes Radio features by DJing your next gathering using your iPhone. iHome’s line of Bluetooth capable wireless speakers should do the trick. The iBT4 Boombox at $99.99 will keep the party rocking with SRS TruBass sound, FM radio capabilities, and a rechargeable battery good for up to 7 hours.
For around the house, iHome also offers the ultra portable iBT24 mini Bluetooth speaker at $69.99. While it doesn’t include FM radio features, it does offer the same SRS TruBass sound as its big brother.
7. Instagram it, yo!
You got a new iPhone, so why not brag about it? Download your favorite social media app (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), snap a picture or record a video using the stunning new iPhone camera, and share away! While you’re at it, try out the new Live Filters feature which allows you to take pictures in wild new color schemes right on your device.
8. Visit our iOS 7 Workshops

Worried about protecting your beautiful Apple gadgets? If you recently purchased an iPhone or iPad, you may not be aware of extended coverage available through AppleCare+. For $99, AppleCare+ gives you total peace of mind when it comes to your favorite mobile devices.
What puts the plus in AppleCare+? The coverage goes above and beyond what most extended service plans can offer. The service extends the standard coverage of 1 year for manufacturer defects and software issues to 2 years. AppleCare+ also covers both physical and liquid damage as well. Your device may be replaced under AppleCare+ for physical abuse with a small $50 deductible up to two times within your coverage term. That means you could accidentally run over your phone or jump into a pool with it twice and have a new phone within minutes of visiting for service at your local PeachMac!
AppleCare+ doesn’t just protect your iPhone from physical damage and software issues. You’ll have access to AppleCare phone and 24/7 chat support for the full 2 years as well. You’ll never be without help when you need it most!
While PeachMac doesn’t offer the iPhone, we can add AppleCare+ coverage any time within 30 days of the purchase of your device. It’s as easy as visiting your local PeachMac and allowing us to perform a quick inspection.

Apple will be holding a special Media Event this Tuesday, September 10th, at 1pm EST to discuss what many speculate will be the future of their mobile devices and platforms. Amongst the rumored products are the iPhone 5S and a budget friendly iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 5C. Apple is also expected to officially announce a launch date for both iOS 7 and potentially OS X Mavericks.
Could we also be seeing updated iPads and iPods? Or even a new MacBook Pro? Time will tell, but speculation on a large number of products seeing updates is rampant. As of this writing, Apple has not offered information for live streaming of the event, but various news outlets will be covering the proceedings. We recommend MacWorld’s live coverage of the event.
What new or updated products do you think are coming down the pipe? We’re anxious to find out! Stay tuned to the PeachMac Facebook and Twitter feeds for updates.
