iPad Revamps The Way Students Learn

March 29, 2013

Over 4.5 million iPads were sold to schools and universities last year making it the most popular tablet used for educational purposes as more teachers choose to use them in the classroom. They can be used for note taking, to replace textbooks and be transformed into a virtual classroom with a few quick downloads.

While iPads may be seen as a luxury item to older cash-strapped university students, they are becoming an essential component of the learning process to younger students as schools are integrating them into the K-12 curriculum.

Some universities are already realizing the ways that iPad can improve students’ educational experience and have implemented new policies requiring incoming freshmen to have their own. In larger classes, lecturers can increase student interaction by incorporating iPad into their lessons.

The App Store carries more than 75,000 educational apps that help students visualize concepts they are struggling to grasp. Since its launch in 2007, iTunes U has received over a billion downloads and is used by more than 1,200 colleges and universities. This app gives instructors the capability of providing course materials right at their students’ fingertips.

iPad users can transform their device into an interactive textbook with just a simple download. These downloads are much cheaper than a physical textbook making this feature popular among college students. This also allows K-12 schools to keep their textbooks up-to-date when they can download the new versions for a fraction of the cost! Not to mention that young children will no longer have to be pack mules of heavy physics, math, and literature texts. Good-bye, scoliosis!

Stop by your local PeachMac today to check out our iPad selection, and ask us how the iPad can improve your educational experience!

PeachMac Product Pick: Clique by Henge Dock

March 11, 2013
