Apple’s sixth version of iOS is ready to download and comes packed with some pretty cool new features to take advantage of on your iPad, iPod touch and iPhone. As a way to introduce Apple’s latest iOS, we’re hosting a series of free iOS 6 Quick Start workshops. We’ll have live demonstrations a few of the new features, as well make ourselves available to answer some of your questions at the end. You are even welcome to bring your own device with you to take notes or follow along. Workshops will be held every Wednesday at 6pm in October. Please go to peachmac.com/locations, choose your location, scroll down, and click iOS 6 Quick Start to register.

Want just a quick list of some of the new iOS features? Check out our summary below:

First to note are the changes to Maps. Now your maps are fully integrated with Yelp so you can quickly see reviews about local businesses in your area. The Flyover feature is super cool as well! It allows you to see a 3D view of major cities as seen from a low flying plane. Probably one of the most useful new tools is the spoken turn by turn navigation.

Siri now has more to offer. She can launch apps, post to social media sites, give you sports stats, movie info and so much more. You can also now use Siri on your iPad.

Apple has been steadily refining their iMessage service, and iOS marks their masterwork. Now, you can set up your iMessages to not only go to your Apple ID, but to your phone number as well. You’ll be able to read you’re your iMessages from any of your Apple devices.

Facebook has never been more integrated! Not only can Siri post to Facebook for you, but you can also post directly to Facebook from other apps. Your Facebook events will even show up in your calendar.

Ahh… “Do Not Disturb.” May we all now sleep better! Once you activate “Do Not Disturb” on your device, you won’t have those annoying sounds and your screen lighting up from notifications.

You can also now reply to phone calls with a text message right as someone is calling in. Just click the “Reply with Message” button, and you’ll get a few quick reply options or the option to send a custom message.

Passbook is completely new to iOS. Passbook will allow you to store gift cards, coupons, movie tickets, boarding passes, and loyalty cards right in the app. You should feel your wallet getting thinner!

Now when you are using Safari, iCloud has the ability to sync your tabs to all your devices. You can also save full web pages to your device for offline viewing.

There are tons more new features in iOS 6 than those listed above! Download iOS 6 today and start exploring! Tell us what you think.
